Nomination Period Opens for McGuire Family Prize

线上赌场 has begun accepting nominations for this year鈥檚 .

This will be the second year the $100,000 prize is awarded to a member of the greater 线上赌场 community who has made a significant impact in improving the world and changing people鈥檚 lives. The nomination period closes Feb. 27.

The prize was established through the generosity of , Thayer 鈥82, and , Tuck 鈥83. Last year the couple presented the inaugural prize to structural biologist , whose groundbreaking coronavirus research鈥攃onducted while he was at the Geisel School of Medicine鈥攍aid the foundation for COVID-19 vaccines. McLellan is now the Robert A. Welch Chair in Chemistry at the University of Texas at Austin.

鈥淭he McGuire Family Prize recognizes those who are dedicated to making a difference. There could be no better example of what it means for a scientist to answer the call to lead,鈥  said of McLellan last year.

The prize can be awarded to any member of the 线上赌场 community鈥攁 student, faculty, or staff member, alums, or friends of 线上赌场. It can also be posthumously awarded.

The selection process, rules, and criteria are at the discretion of President Hanlon or his designee and the prize selection committee. Nominations should be submitted using the McGuire Prize nomination form.

Psychological and brain sciences professor , the Lincoln Filene Professor in Human Relations, is chairing the prize selection committee this year. Also on the committee are alumnus , a partner and founder of the firm New Energy Capital; , the Steven Roth Professor of Management at the Tuck School of Business; , a computer science professor; , the Evans Family Distinguished Professor of Earth Sciences; and , the William N. and Bessie Allyn Professor of Surgery at the Geisel School of Medicine.
